Student Leadership

The Student Programs Office at Cascadia Community College offers learning experiences for students that extend beyond the classroom. Students at Cascadia have many opportunities to get involved in the college governance system or one of the many programs and activities - including a variety of clubs and organizations, the Cascadia Student Government, college wide committees and taskforces, the Events Committee, or our newly created intramural sports program.

The largest of these programs is the Cascadia Student Government. The CSG provides students with a unique learning opportunity because they regulate the activities of the Associated Students of Cascadia Community College (ASCCC) and grant recognition status to clubs formed at Cascadia. Each of the clubs and organizations must meet standards set by the CSG and must support one of the values: Learning, Multiculturalism, Recreation, and Social Development. The standards are based on the mission and values of Cascadia as a whole. Students involved in the Cascadia Student Government gain leadership skills such as budget development, organization, parliamentary procedure, and event coordination. This past summer, the students were involved in a two-week summer leadership training program and will then help to develop a mentor program and leadership retreat for newer officers elected during the fall quarter.

More information about all the programs and services offered through the Student Programs Office is located on the Student Government website: www.cascadia.edu/studentgovernment
