Free employment skills and language training for low-income parents!!
Short-term (under 22 weeks) Full-time/Part-time programs include:
- Open-entry/open-exit classes:
- Self-paced Computer Applications classes (Microsoft
Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and more!) on Cascadia's campus
and off-site at Kirkland's Kirkwood Terrace
- Instructor-led computer classes (non-credit):

- GED/ABE classes: morning classes OR evening classes on Cascadia's
campus
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes on Cascadia's
campus and off-site at Lake Washington High School, Bothell Library,
Kingsgate Library, and Redmond Library
- Landscape Maintenance: training to prepare students for entry-level work
in the horticulture field--coming in the Fall!
- Phlebotomy: training to prepare students for work as a
phlebotomist (drawing blood)--coming in the Fall!
- Accounting Assistant: training to prepare students for work as
bookkeeping clerks or accounting clerks--coming in the Winter!
High Wage/High
Demand (1 year or less): TANF recipients and low-income working
parents may be eligible for FREE books and tuition toward the following
certificates:
- Computer Applications Specialist
- Technical Support Specialist
- Web Design Specialist
- ESL/Office Skills (for ESL
levels of 4, 5, or 6)
Longer-term certificates/degrees (1 year or more): Employed TANF recipients and
low-income working parents may be eligible for FREE books and tuition toward the
following certificates/degrees:
- Network Technology Specialist Certificate
- Software Testing Specialist Certificate
- Web Specialist Certificate
- Network Technology Degree
- Software Programming Technology Degree
- Web Technology Degree
- Administrative Office Management Degree

- Service Alternatives
Interested students should contact the WorkForce Resources Center staff at
425.352.8139 or stop by the Library Annex. Temporary
Assistance for Need Families (TANF) recipients will also need to contact their DSHS and ES case managers to express their interest.
The appropriate DSHS and ES case managers must approve the customized
training plan prior to the student beginning courses.
