Grants

Title: Complete Your Dream Grant - Students who encounter financial obstacles that may jeopardize their ability to complete 10 or fewer credits to graduate from Cascadia Community College may apply for the Complete Your Dream Grant.
Eligibility: Applicants must
  1. have 10 or fewer credits remaining to complete an AA degree or certificate,
  2. be graduating from Cascadia Community College at the end of the quarter for which assistance is requested,
  3. have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA, and
  4. be a Washington State resident.

A student may apply for this award only once.

Title: Students in Technology Grant - Students who are enrolled in a technology class at Cascadia Community College may apply for a Students in Technology Grant
Eligibility: Applicants must
  1. be enrolled at Cascadia Community College,
  2. be enrolled in a technology course, and
  3. use the grant money to pay for texts or recommended books and/or computer lab fees and supplies.

Preference is given to students committed to a career in the field of internet and/or web technology, with demonstrated financial need, and/or applying for the grant for the first time.  One letter of recommendation from the Cascadia faculty teaching the student's technology course is required.

Other Cascadia Specific Scholarships/Grants

Title: Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation
Amount: Offers $1,000 scholarships to 350 students attending two-year degree granting institutions. Students are nominated by their colleges; an independent committee selects scholarship recipients from those nominations.
Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

  1. Be U.S. citizens or permanent residents;
  2. Have demonstrated academic success with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale;
  3. Actively engaged in community service or employed at least part-time within the previous 12 months;
  4. Be planning to enroll in at least two courses during the next term at a two-year institution;
  5. Applicants may not be children or grandchildren of Coca-Cola employees

Title: NELA Take AIM Incentive Scholarship
Amount: $500 scholarship to students enrolled at least half time.  The student must maintain satisfactory academic progress and financial need is considered.
Eligibility Criteria: - Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Transfer students must have applied to a four-year school by June 2008
- At the time the student submits the application, the student must continue to maintain satisfactory academic progress
- The student must have a verifiable financial need as established by the expected family contribution (EFC).  The EFC is determined by information students and parents provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Title: Educational Opportunity Grant
Amount: Up to $2,500 for the academic year. May be renewed for one additional year.
Eligibility Criteria:

Requirements:

  • Be a Washington state resident;
  • Have at least junior standing;
  • Have financial need;
  • Be place bound;
  • Be enrolled in an eligible four-year Washington school. This school must be different from the one you attended during the prior academic year;
  • Not pursuing a degree in theology.

Application Deadline: Must be applied for before student enrolls. Grants are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible students

Other Scholarships
Title: Abbott and Fenner Scholarship  The winner(s) of this annual scholarship will receive their award within two weeks of the listed deadline.
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility Criteria: Available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution. Must be between the ages of 16 and 30.
Application Procedure: Write an essay on one of the two topics below:
1.  Discuss, in less than 1000 words, what you consider to be the single most important societal problem?  Why?
2.  How has your education contributed to who you are today or how will it affect who you will become.  In less than 1000 words, discuss this question.

Title: College Success Foundation Leadership 1000 Scholarship
Amount: $5,000 a year for four years - Up to 100 scholarships will be awarded for 2008-2009 academic year
Eligibility Criteria: - A Washington resident (for at least one year) planning to attend or are attending a Washington State public or independent college.
-  International students or students on foreign exchange or visas are not eligible.
- Enrolled high school senior who has applied or been accepted into a four year college/university OR an enrolled college freshman or sophomore at time of application.
- Planning to or already pursuing a four year undergraduate degree.
- Must have filed a FAFSA-Free Application for Federal Student Aid, if eligible to apply.  If not eligible to submit a FAFSA, alternative financial information must be submitted to the College Success Foundation.
- Income cannot be higher than:

- Must have demonstrated high potential.
- Minimum 2.75 high school GPA at time of application if applying as a high school senior

Title: Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
Amount: up to $5,000
Eligibility Criteria:
  • US Citizen
  • Undergraduate in good standing
  • Pell Grant Recipient at the time of application

  • May study in any country worldwide with the exception of Cuba and those countries under US Department of State Travel Warning

Title: Indian Health Services Scholarship
Three interrelated scholarship programs for American Indian and Alaska Native students to train the health professionals necessary to staff IHS health programs serving the Indian people.

Health Professions Preparatory

Amount: Varies, but covers the following:

- Stipend for student living expenses
- Payment of tuition and required fees

Awards are for one school year only, but students can request continuing support annually if they fulfill the criteria specified for their specific scholarship program.
Eligibility Criteria: Must be descendents and members of federally or state recognized American Indian and/or Alaska Native Tribes.  Documentation is required.

Must also be a U.S. citizen; permanent resident aliens and other aliens are not eligible.

Title: SPENDonLIFE College Scholarship Program offers financial assistance for college students who are unable to obtain student loans due to a negative credit history. Awards range from $500 to $5000. All applications and essays must be received by May 15th of each year.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- The student must have been rejected for a student loan due to negative credit. A rejection letter from a lending institution or a letter from the student's financial aid officer confirming denial of financing may be requested.

Title: Washington Financial Aid Association (WFAA)
Ethnic Awareness Committee Scholarship
 
A one-year scholarship for a student of color attending a WFAA member college or university

Qualifying criteria includes:

  • Strong leadership ability;
  • Academic promise, must have a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher;
  • Financial need as certified on the application (determined by a 2008-2009 FAFSA); School certification demonstrating financial need as determined by the 2008-2009 FAFSA is required;
  • Must enroll at least half-time at a WFAA member community or technical college, public or private college/university
  • Must be a Washington State resident and a US citizen or eligible noncitizen
Amount: The scholarship award amount is variable up to $1,500.  This award is a one-year scholarship for a student of color attending a WFAA member college or university.

Title: Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships
A Zonta International Program, funded by Zonta International Foundation

Scholarships are awarded to women studying business at the undergraduate level who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field
Amount: Twelve scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each
Eligibility Criteria: Women of any nationality pursuing an undergraduate business degree who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field.  Students pursuing a master's degree are not eligible.  Members and employees of Zonta International or Zonta International Foundation are not eligible to apply.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Be eligible to enter the third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree program (first university degree) at an accredited university/college/institute at the time the funds are received from Zonta International Headquarters in November.

Have achieved an outstanding academic record during the first two-three years of academic studies.

Demonstrate intent to complete a program in business, knowledge of the field and outstanding achievement in business-related subjects, as recorded on the official university/college/institute transcript.

Demonstrate initiative, ambition and commitment to pursuing a career in business.
