All sections multiple-choice. To be eligible for Running Start,
students must place in English 101 in Reading AND Writing.
No time limit.
Average completion time 2 hours.
Test may be interrupted and saved and return to at a later time, but within 30 days.
Questions cannot be skipped: an answer must be entered for each question. Students cannot return to a question later and change their answer.
Calculators are built into the program.
Computer prints results immediately following test.
Students will self-select math level. It makes no difference where the student begins. The computer system is adaptive: as the student answers questions correctly, they become more difficult; if answered incorrectly they become easier. The student will be placed into most appropriate course according to current skill level as measured by COMPASS. Additional tests are not necessary.
