Life at Cascadia/Employee Testimonials
"Nobody ever came with a great idea all by themselves."
~ Thomas Edison
Cascadia Community College has seven institutional core values:
Access, Community,
Diversity, Environmental
Stewardship, Innovation,
Learning, Success. All employees contribute
to the college's success and help to support a multicultural and diverse work
and educational environment. We all continue to grow and learn. Here
are some thoughts from our employees on our learning-centered culture.
In your opinion, what makes Cascadia an exciting place to work?
- "The technology in and out of the classroom, and the fact that new ideas are
valued and supported. I enjoy working with students and my colleagues and see
working here as an opportunity to be creative in many ways."
-Jared, Founding Faculty
Why do you enjoy being at Cascadia?
- "I recently participated in a workshop off campus by applying for professional
development funds. The workshop was called “Managing Multiple Projects,
Objectives and Deadlines”. I can go on and on about how wonderful the workshop
was but the bottom line is it really helped put things in perspective, made
things cohesive in my mind on how I can improve my day to day structure. I have
been in the field I am in for at least 11 years and providing me this training
or any type of training I may want or need is just another reason why I look
forward to coming to work in the mornings. And for me, that is one of the
reasons I love working at Cascadia. The college supports continuous learning
not only via professional development but through the courses offered under ELI
(Employee Learning Institute). Being a learning centered college is so tangible
here, you know that it is not just empty promises being offered.
What is the most positive thing that has happened to me at Cascadia? It would be
being accepted as Admin Assistant because I truly have found a place that I
enjoy working, a place that recognizes my efforts and accomplishments and
encourages me to strive to do more and be what I did not think I could be."
-Raphalyn, Administrative Assistant
