Electronic Resumes

Internet Friendly - When preparing a resume for scanning, adjustments need to be made for uploading to job boards and entry into a company's Human Resources Information System (HRIS):

  • Put your contact information at the top - name on its own line
  • Use capital letters to emphasize text and not italics, bold or underlines
  • No slashes, parentheses, brackets, horizontal and vertical lines, shading, graphics, tables, or boxes
  • Use asterisks instead of bullets to highlight items
  • Use a standard typeface in 10-14 point font
  • No headers and footers
  • If you are sending it as an attachment, name it appropriately (Smith_John_Resume.doc) and not (Resume.doc)
