Cascadia Community College Foundation Names Scholarship To Honor Frederick Jackson, Founding Faculty
Bothell, WA - Bothell, WA –Cascadia Community College Foundation recently renamed the Cascadia Community College Faculty Scholarship to be the Fred Jackson Faculty Scholarship, in memory of Frederick O. Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a Founding Faculty at Cascadia Community College when it opened in fall, 2000. Mr. Jackson died peacefully on November 18 after a long illness.
"Fred Jackson was appreciated by his colleagues and his students for his enthusiasm and laughter," said Linda Hendrickson, Executive Director of the Foundation. "Fellow founding faculty members at Cascadia asked that the scholarship be renamed to honor Mr. Jackson’s service to the college community."
After retiring from the Navy as a Master Chief, Fred enrolled at Skagit Valley College to pursue his educational goals. He completed his AA degree at Skagit Valley in 1991 and transferred to Western Washington University where he earned both his BA and MA. He returned to Skagit Valley College to teach for a period of time before coming to Cascadia Community College as a Founding Faculty. While at Cascadia, Fred Jackson taught courses in Anthropology, Sociology, and Multicultural Studies.
The Fred Jackson Faculty Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student attending Cascadia Community College. Donations to the scholarship fund may be sent to the Fred Jackson Faculty Scholarship, Cascadia Community College Foundation, 18345 Campus Way NE, Bothell, WA 98011.
