PRESIDENT ACCEPTS POSITION AT CASCADIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

BOTHELL — Dr. Brinton Sprague has accepted the position of Interim President at Cascadia Community College, effective September 1. In the meantime, Executive Vice President for Student Learning Dr. Jean Hernandez will serve as acting president. During times of vacation for Dr. Hernandez, Executive Director of Human Resources, Institutional Equity and Labor Relations, Janice Jackson-Haley, will serve as acting president.

Dr. Sprague has a long and distinguished career in higher education having served as Cascadia’s founding Vice President for Student Learning from 2000-2002 when he retired. In retirement, Dr. Sprague has continued to teach for Cascadia Community College, as he is an accomplished historian and students have experienced great success and high motivation in his classes. During these last few years, he has also served as a consultant for community colleges in the state of Washington.

His community college career spans almost 30 years, including serving as and Dean of the Whidbey campus and then Vice President of Educational Services for Skagit Valley College. He served also as Division Chair and Director for North Seattle Community College and has taught history since 1970.

From 1962 to 1969 he served as a Naval Officer with the United States Navy.
