Cascadia Community College Board of Trustees Approves 2007-08 Budget – Growth is the Theme

Bothell, WA - In its June meeting, the Cascadia Community College Board of Trustees adopted the operating budget for 2007-08 academic year, which begins July 1. The recurring theme of new expenditures in the $15 million spending blueprint is accommodating growing demand for higher education in Cascadia’s service area, which includes northeast King and south Snohomish counties.

“This budget supports the excellent work of Cascadia’s faculty and staff,” said Jean Magladry, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “It also commits significant resources to new initiatives that are critical to the college mission.” The budget funds anticipated growth in enrollments, adds new fulltime faculty positions, and includes establishing a “one-stop” consolidation of student services. Other projects slated for new funds are major upgrades of computer hardware and software and an outreach effort to increase enrollment of international students.

Cascadia Community College, located in Bothell, shares a campus with the University of Washington Bothell. Cascadia, which opened its doors in fall 2000, provides small classes and innovative instruction to more than 2,500 students each quarter.
