1st Annual Fundraising Breakfast Exceeds Expectations
Bothell, WA - The Board of Directors of the Cascadia Community College Foundation recently reported the results of its 1st Annual Fundraising Breakfast held earlier this month. Guests and sponsors for the event, presented by U.S. Bank, gave over $40,000 to fund student financial assistance, faculty and staff development, and innovative college programs.
Student speaker Deborah Oaks, a beneficiary of a scholarship from the Foundation, spoke movingly about her experiences at Cascadia Community College. A single mother, Ms. Oaks credited the support and encouragement she has received from instructors at Cascadia for changing her life and inspiring her to make a difference.
Other sponsors for the breakfast in the North Creek Café on campus were The Boeing Company, HP Vending, Hoffman Construction Company, Miller/Hull Partners, Univar USA, Inc. and Washington Mutual.
The Cascadia Community College Foundation develops community partnerships and resources to support the mission and goals of Cascadia Community College. Created in 2000, the Cascadia Community College Foundation has grown from a fledgling 4-member board of directors that raised nearly $25,000 in its first full year of operations to an energetic board of 24 directors with a budget over $160,000 this year.
