Cascadia Community College Foundation Hosts 1st Annual Fundraising Breakfast Featuring Bill Center
Bothell, WA - Cascadia Community College Foundation announces that Bill Center, President of the Washington Council on International Trade, will be the keynote speaker at the 1st Annual Fundraising Breakfast on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, from 7:30 to 9:00am. The breakfast event, presented by US Bank, will be held in the North Creek Café on the campus of Cascadia Community College and University of Washington Bothell, 18345 Campus Way NE, Bothell.
"We are grateful to US Bank for their sponsorship and extremely pleased to have Bill Center as our speaker," said Tom Broetje, chair of the Foundation’s board of directors. "We look forward to hearing Mr. Center’s insightful comments and providing support to enrich the experience of students at Cascadia Community College."
Bill Center is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Washington’s Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs in Seattle. He retired from the U.S. Navy as Rear Admiral in 1999 after 35 years service. A specialist in policy analysis, strategic planning and organization development, Center served as a senior advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff on arms control, non-proliferation, environmental matters, and international agreements.
Since April 2001, Center has been president of the Washington Council on International Trade, a nonprofit, non-partisan advocacy association. He believes that it is possible to eliminate extreme global poverty and says he has no plans to retire until that objective is achieved.
The goal for this year’s breakfast is to raise $25,000 for scholarships, faculty and staff development, and innovative college programs such as the Public Housing Outreach Project and the Technology with English as Second Language Program. Additional sponsors of the event include The Boeing Company, HP Vending, Univar USA, Inc. and Washington Mutual.
Reservations for the breakfast may be made by calling the Foundation at 425.352.8840 or emailing to foundation@cascadia.edu. Tickets cost $35. Check-in on May 2nd will begin at 7:00, followed by breakfast and the program from 7:30 to 9:00 AM.
The Cascadia Community College Foundation develops community partnerships and resources to support the mission and goals of Cascadia Community College. Created in 2000, the Cascadia Community College Foundation has grown from a fledgling 4-member board of directors that raised nearly $25,000 in its first full year of operations to an energetic board of 24 directors with a budget over $160,000 this year.
