Cascadia Honors Dedicated Educator
Bothell, WA - Cascadia Community College is pleased to announce Ms. Erin Blakeney as the recipient of this year’s President’s Lifelong Learning Award.
Erin is currently the Associate Dean for Admissions and Retention and is involved in numerous efforts to improve the experiences of students here at Cascadia. She earned this award, in part, by helping to create the Cascadia Activities Board as well as the Peer Resource Officers and Emerging Leaders programs, all intended to encourage our students to take on leadership roles and help their fellow students get the most out of college life. Erin has been part of the Cascadia team since October 1, 2001.
“I am delighted that Erin received this year’s award,” said Dr. William Christopher, President of Cascadia Community College. “She is such an enthusiastic student advocate. Her accomplishments exemplify our focus at Cascadia of making sure students’ needs are at the heart of everything we do.”
Ms. Blakeney was nominated and selected for the award by Cascadia faculty, staff, and administrators. In addition to being recognized for her accomplishments, she will receive $1,500 to use for professional development.
About the Award:
The President’s Lifelong Learning Award is made in recognition and support of the importance of continued intellectual and professional growth of all employees of Cascadia Community College. Its primary purpose is to encourage all employees to value and actively pursue life-long learning. The award is intended to be used by the recipient for costs associated with attendance at professional association meetings, conferences, professional development classes, college course work and/or work related activities which would enhance the recipient's individual, intellectual and/or professional development.
